Guys, before we set on the task to make sure your girl will come back for more… erm, salsa, we’re gonna set a few ground rules. Women want to be pampered, cherished, loved and secure in their men’s arms. In and out of dancing, it’s the same. Make them feel like you’re their prince charming while you dance, and it’s pretty hard to go wrong.
Watching her expression is important. Make sure you keep her happy and smile at her. However stressed you are in executing the moves, smile at her. Remember that dancing is about having fun and meeting people!
There’s no need to impress her with one complex variation after another. Contrary to what most beginners think, many women enjoy dancing intermediate-level variations. Few actually enjoy executing advance stuff unless they want to push themselves to be better dancers. This is because advance moves can sometimes be very difficult and uncomfortable to dance to. If you would like to try out advance moves, pace them out with other simple moves in between. This will give her ample time to breathe and to do some of her styling.
Watch your spacing on a crowded dance floor: it’s a very useful skill. Learning how to control your space on the dance floor so that you can guide her exactly where you want her to be is important because it will minimize all the bruises her feet will get from being stepped on. A guy who knows how to protect his girl on the dance floor makes her feel safe and allows her to enjoy her dancing without having to worry about being stomped on.
Dance with her like you’re communicating with her while you’re dancing. Look at her, smile at her, play with her. Don’t just execute steps mechanically. Try to engage with her while you dance. After all, dance is communicating in the language of the body.
Thank her after the dance and walk her off the dance floor. Let her know you enjoyed dancing with her.
